Hoe het ongeluk precies kon gebeuren is nog onbekend. Vermoedelijk wou de bestuurder van een personenauto af slaan de Schaaksport in. Bij die manoeuvre werd de scooterrijder over het hoofd gezien waarop een aanrijding het gevolg was. De man kwam hierbij ten val. Hulpdiensten waren snel ter plaatse. Nadat het slachtoffer ter plaatse behandeld was is hij met onbekende verwondingen overgebracht naar het ziekenhuis.
